The smartwatch industry has taken a turn for the better in the past year, with makers like Pebble, Asus, and LG all making their own smartwatches that offer a lot more than just a tiny screen.
These include the most impressive smartwatch specs to date, like the battery life and battery capacity, the software, and even some hardware like sensors and cameras.
But the smartwatch market is still in a transitional phase.
There are plenty of manufacturers who are still making the smartwands we know today, but they are far from the ones you would expect to find in your bag.
Here’s a look at the most interesting smartwares that don’t fit neatly into the smartware category.
The best smartwareThe Fitbit Blaze is an excellent fitness tracker, but it lacks many of the bells and whistles that made the Fitbit Surge one of the most popular fitness trackers on the market.
The Blaze doesn’t include a heart rate monitor, for example, or a gyroscope.
It does, however, have an OLED screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720, and it has a very attractive curved screen with an ergonomic curve and a large battery that lasts for more than two weeks.
The Fitbit Charge 2.0 is a more traditional fitness tracker that uses the same hardware, but lacks the heart rate sensor and other fitness tracking features.
The LG G Watch R uses the more modern Snapdragon 820 processor, which has better battery life, and is the only fitness tracker on this list that does not have a GPS.
But if you want a smartwatch that fits nicely in your pack, the LG G5 is a great choice.
Its dual camera setup allows for some amazing shots, as well as a variety of smart features, like customizable face recognition, smart notifications, and a smart voice assistant.
The watch is also waterproof, which can be handy if you’re planning to spend a lot of time outdoors.
If you want to be on the lookout for the next best smartwatch to go with your fitness tracker—or, for that matter, the next most interesting fitness tracker to go alongside it—watchmaker Bionix is offering the G5, a smart watch that will appeal to fitness enthusiasts as well.
It has a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 820 chip with Adreno 430 graphics, which offers plenty of battery life.
The G5 can be charged via USB-C or USB-A, but you’ll have to charge it with an external power adapter if you don’t have a compatible USB-B port.
The Bionux G5 comes in a variety black and white options, with a white model available for $349.
The phone is made by a Taiwanese company, and the Bionox G5 will ship in September.
While you won’t find the G Watch Pro on this year’s list, there are plenty other fitness trackable devices to consider.
Fitbit and Pebble have both announced fitness tracking options for their smartwalls, as have LG and Asus.
And with Google Glass, there’s a growing collection of wearables that can be used for exercise and communication.
However, if you are a fitness fan, the Samsung Gear Live is a must-have accessory.
It’s a very smartwatch-like device that combines the latest smart features with a very comfortable fit.
It comes with a smart camera, an audio recorder, and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Samsung Gear will launch in September, and while the Fit and Charge versions of the Gear will have slightly different battery life ratings, they’re both capable of powering your smartwatch for up to 10 hours.
The Bionax G5 and the LG B5 also offer fitness tracking, though both devices are still relatively new.
