In a case that has rattled the nation, a man fell asleep in a flight cabin after an argument with an air stewardess.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday night at Los Angeles International Airport, led to an investigation that ended with a man being arrested Monday, officials said.
The incident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. local time when the man, who was a passenger on a plane, was awakened by the sound of banging and a female passenger screaming, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
When the man tried to get up, the female passenger grabbed him by the arm and said, “He’s going to die.
Get out of the cabin.
Get him out of here,” Sheriff’s Lt.
Mark Hirsch told reporters.
The flight attendant, who is not identified in the report, then grabbed the man by the neck and dragged him from the cabin, the report said.
The male passenger’s wife tried to calm him down, but he continued to struggle.
When the woman finally gave up and pulled the man out of his seat, she then attempted to grab the flight attendant’s neck and pull him out again.
The female passenger then called 911, the sheriff’s report said, saying that she “didn’t like the situation at all.”
She told dispatchers that she had been in a fight with her husband, who had pushed her and then thrown her to the floor, the Associated Press reported.
She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities have not released the man’s name.
They have not yet released the woman’s name, according the sheriff.
