The power fit is back in style.
The Canadian power training system has taken centre stage in the UFC as the first major tournament fight to feature a heavyweight contender against a light heavyweight.
The first UFC heavyweight bout to be held on the main card in Toronto was headlined by the former champ Rashad Evans vs. Josh Thomson.
This was a rematch from the original bout in July 2016.
It was the second fight between Evans and Thomson, which was also the last fight for the former champion to make the main event.
With a win over Thomson, Evans would become the first fighter in UFC history to win two heavyweight title fights on the same card.
But it was his second bout against Thomson that truly stood out.
Evans was knocked out in the second round by Thomson in the main promotion card.
Evans suffered a concussion in the fight and the fight was stopped in the third round.
The bout ended with Evans receiving a technical knockout.
Evans had previously lost two bouts in a row to the lightweight champion.
But Thomson’s loss was the first time he had ever been knocked out by a heavyweight.
Evans’ loss was one of his most significant defeats in the Octagon.
Thomson has been a champion since his debut at UFC 173 in 2015.
He has also fought a lot of times in the heavyweight division.
Evans has fought seven times in UFC heavyweight history and he has defeated two of them.
He holds a 14-7 record in the division.
He defeated former lightweight champion Demian Maia in his last outing in the company and was in his second fight of the year when he defeated Nick Diaz.
The other opponent for Evans to face in the next matchup was fellow UFC heavyweight champion Jose Aldo.
This will be the third fight between the two fighters.
Aldo will be looking to end his streak of consecutive victories against him and his career record.
He won two straight from 2013-2016.
But in that span, Aldo was knocked down seven times, landed just one of them and had an eight-fight winning streak.
Evans will be fighting in his sixth UFC title defense.
He lost three of his last four bouts and was knocked in the first round twice.
He was knocked unconscious twice in his career.
The UFC has always promoted heavyweight competition as the best way to develop the sport.
But now the division has a champion.
The division will have three contenders this year, with former champion Tyron Woodley, welterweight champion Gegard Mousasi and bantamweight champion Eddie Alvarez.
The only way the division can get its first title shot in its history is if it can make it to the second or third round in a fight.
That’s the only way to win a title.
And that’s what the UFC will do.
If they can win this fight, they will be one step closer to winning a title for the first ever time in UFC lightweight history.
The final two fights in the lightweight division will be between champion Chris Weidman and featherweight champion Cub Swanson.
The fight for Swanson’s next title shot will be a rematch against Nate Diaz.
